Arlington, VA- Eastern Foundry is excited to announce that Kimberly Blackburn has joined the team as Director of Events and Sponsorships. Blackburn previously served as the Director of Events at Tech.Co, a leading online resource for startups.
“Kimberly brings a tremendous amount of experience in catering to the event needs of emerging technology companies,” said Andrew Chang, Co-Founder of Eastern Foundry. “Through her previous experiences, she has been able to work with some of the most successful startups around the country and knows what it takes to produce exceptional events. Anyone who can pull off seven events in two days at SXSW is someone who will make a great impact on our Eastern Foundry community.”
Blackburn spent four years working at Tech.co heading up event planning all across the United States on some of the biggest stages such as CES, Celebrate, and SXSW. Prior to joining Tech.co, she worked on the marketing team at Maryland’s Small Business Development Center.
“Sustaining an environment which promotes collaboration and openness in an industry that has historically been the complete opposite is challenging,” said Geoff Orazem, Co-Founder of Eastern Foundry. “Kimberly is going to be instrumental in bringing our members together so that ultimately they can do business in ways they would not be able to do so elsewhere.”
“Eastern Foundry is young, so I’m excited to be a part of their growth,” said Kimberly Blackburn. “I have a great opportunity to team up with a lot of the key partners in the DC area and really expand Eastern Foundry’s influence. I’m looking forward to building out our events and to really provide valuable resources for our members.”
Lauren Schmidt, who previously ran partnerships and events, will now be transitioning into the Director of Client Development role.
