As you may have heard, in less than a month Eastern Foundry will be hosting our second pitch competition, Foundry Cup 2016. Eight companies from across the country will convene right here in Arlington, Virginia to present their portable power products and services to our panel of judges and to you, the public. After receiving more than 30 applications for this year’s competition, we narrowed our finalists down to the organizations we truly believe have the ability to shake up the energy field with their out-of-the-box technology.
In today’s 24/7 connected world, the need for a reliable portable power source is greater than ever. Whether it be on the front lines of the battlefield where soldiers could be off the grid for weeks at a time, or an environmentally conscious commuter looking for a responsible way to power their mobile devices throughout the day. Revolutionary portable power technology is in high demand. Over the last 10 years, we have seen a shift away from fossil fuels and now we are beginning to see the effects of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar on our environment. Additionally, enhanced battery technology is expanding at a rapid rate. The Lithium-Ion battery market is expected to reach $18.6 billion by next year.
Our finalists are on the cutting edge of these programs and we can’t wait for you to hear all about them. Over the next three weeks, leading up to Demo Day on March 25th, we’ll be highlighting our finalist companies and their respective technologies to give you an inside look at how they are changing the energy game. Make sure to check back next Tuesday to read about our first two finalists, Energy Intelligence and Besstech.
Can’t wait for Demo Day? RSVP here to secure your spot for an electric time.
